The half-way point of summer!! We've had 12 children doing our craft classes this week. After having almost all boys this summer, this week is all girls, with one boy! He doesn't know yet how lucky he is!!
The weather has finally turned for the better - beautiful sun and heat - perfect for swimming, canoeing, and kayaking.
This weekend is the holiday long weekend. Tomorrow we celebrate "Firefest", a local fundraising evening for our volunteer fire fighters that includes live music from a steel band, BBQ, clowns, OPP boat rides, winding up with fireworks at dusk. A great annual event that we always look forward to!
Next week, our cottages are again fully booked. Our next vacancies are for the week of August 15-22nd. Call us!!

The fourth week of summer is coming to an end! Another wild weather week - sun, heat, cold, rain...it's certainly never dull!
Lots of children here again this week. I think the big hit has been our campfire nights. Thank you to all of the kids for their camp songs around the fire! I even learned a new one. A special "HI" goes out to Thomas - my boyfriend at campfire this week. Doesn't it figure that the perfect guy still has to use a car seat to get around?? :-)
Tomorrow is another day of goodbye's and hello's...and lots of rushing to get everything perfect for our next group of guests.
Bear update: no sightings have reported over the past few weeks. The raspberries have started to ripen so hopefully this will keep the bear busy and away from Dwight!

Wrapping up another week! We had the priviledge of hosting, once again, a large family that takes over our entire resort for the week. Lots of children!! We love to have them visit every year - and see how much the kids have grown...
The weather's been a little bit of up and down and all around, just like everywhere in Ontario this week. Still, lots of swimming was had!
We'll wrap up the week with crafts this morning and a goodbye campfire tonight. Then, tomorrow we have five hours of craziness while we change over all of the cottages to prepare them for our next group of guests. A reminder to everyone: our check-in time is 3:00 pm! Please give us time to get things perfect for you!
We still have one unit remaining for the week of July 25 - August 1, and only one cottage remaining for the week of August 1 - 8 (that's the holiday week). Check out our availability page for more details!
Hope you have a great week!

We're winding up our second week of summer. The weather this week started out with beautiful sunshine and warm water...then rain. Yesterday and today have been picture perfect! Sunny and hot! Lots of very tired little swimmers by the end of the days.
Tomorrow, a new group of families arrives for the week - a sold out week! Sorry, no cottages are available for the next few weeks. We hate to turn folks away - that's why we always say - BOOK EARLY!!
Bear update: we heard from a neighbour that a local bear had been trapped and relocated. Hooray! Unfortunately, the next morning one of our guests came over to tell us that the garbage/recycling hut had been damaged during the night and garbage was strewn all around it... Well, you guessed it-the bear that was trapped, obviously was not "our" bear. So, Ross had the great joy, once again, to rebuild (and reinforce) the door of the hut. We've not seen any signs of the bear since early in the week - maybe our garbage just wasn't tasteful enough! Let's hope...

Our first "official" week of summer is almost over. It's been on the rainy side this week, unfortunately. Our guests have still been able do lots of the Algonquin Park hiking trails and swimming at Dwight Beach, both in the rain and sun. Huntsville has also been a popular destination on a rainy day-eating in some great restaurants and walking on the main street to do some shopping.
We attended the Canada Day Fireworks in Huntsville on Wednesday. Lots of people and a new location to view them - down by Hunter's Bay. It was nice to see all the boats and the reflection of the fireworks on the water.
The weather mass that's caused this rainy time is on its way out - thank goodness! The forecast is for sun this afternoon - just in time for our campfire tonight!
