Well, we move from a top-of-the-line athletic competition to a slower paced weekend. Today, we celebrate the start of the Huntsville Fall Fair! This is a family favourite - lots of cotton candy (that's my favourite part!), rides, displays, local entertainment, horse pull competition, lumber jack competition, animal petting, etc. This is an Autumn family tradition that we love!
Also happening this Saturday is an antique car show that will see approximately 250 antique cars from all over Ontario lining Huntsville's Main Street. The street is closed to only pedestrian traffic, with music, retail sales, and Fall decorations everywhere. Another favourite of ours!
The leaves are starting to change! Vibrant colours are starting to pop up everywhere! We only have a few weekend vacancies remaining - don't miss out! Or, visit during mid-week when there are fewer visitors and the walking/hiking trails of Algonquin Park are very quiet and peaceful.

Congratulations to Harry and Darcy - two of the Ironman triathletes who stayed with us for the race! The weather was very warm and rainy for the triathlon - thanks very much to Hurricane Ike! The final athlete participant number was 1299!!
We also accommodated the official bike fixer-upers - D'Ornellas Bike Shop. This great bunch of folks not only had an on-site repair station set up at the race start, but they were also travelling side-by-side with the athletes during the bike portion of the triathlon - providing parts and encouragement. You were great! Visit them at www.dornellas.com .
The bike route passed right by our cottage resort at Dwight Beach. Lots of local support could be heard throughout the course - lots of cheering, encouragement, and bells. We've heard that the Muskoka Ironman is now scheduled to be taking place on the same weekend in 2009 and 2010!!! Great news! Tomorrow is the Ironman 70.3 km Triathlon - this is a great event that brings competitors from all over Canada and the world to our little town of Dwight! The bike racing portion of the competition is passing right by our door. It's going to be a very exciting day! A spectactor's area has been set up at the Dwight Community Centre/Library where we will be cheering on the over 1600 athletes who have registered for the triathlon. We have a few of the athletes staying with us and we will be cheering extra loud for them! Good luck to everyone!

Hooray! It's back to school today! For all of the children who stay with us in the summer, you'll probably remember the "Back to School Countdown" that Annmarie does in the newsletter, during crafts, at the campfire, etc.... - you know, the number of days left until school starts. Of course, all parents love that countdown (unless they are teachers!), the children...not so much!
Well, yesterday, to complete the tradition, the countdown became hours, instead of days! And now, it has finally arrived!
We wish everyone a great first day back in class!
By the way, only 114 days until Christmas... :0)
